Longer validity usually lowers the cost per day, but you pay more at the start and lose some flexibility.
Voice-only examples
Jio’s ₹177 plan costs about ₹6.32 a day over 28 days. Jio’s ₹448 plan costs about ₹5.33 a day over 84 days, and the ₹1,748 plan costs about ₹5.20 a day over 336 days.
Data plan examples
Jio’s ₹999 plan costs about ₹10.19 a day over 98 days, while Airtel’s ₹899 plan costs about ₹10.70 a day over 84 days. Jio’s shorter ₹299 plan costs about ₹10.68 a day over 28 days and gives less data per day.
What you give up
- Money upfront. ₹1,748 at once is a bigger payment than twelve small ones.
- Flexibility. If you switch operators, you cannot get back the unused days.
- The chance to pick a better plan if a new offer appears.
A sensible rule
If you have used the same number and operator for at least a year and are happy with the service, an 84-day plan is a low-risk way to save a little. Go for the 336-day option only for a number you are sure to keep.
