Daily Data or Total Data: Which Plan Style Fits You?

Guides Published November 1, 2026Updated November 1, 20261 min read

Recharge plans give data in two main ways, and the difference matters if your usage is uneven.

Daily data

You get a set amount every day, for example 1.5 GB. Unused data usually does not carry over to the next day. Once you cross the limit, speed typically drops until the next day. Jio’s ₹299 plan and Airtel’s ₹899 plan both give 1.5 GB a day, and on Airtel’s ₹899 plan and Jio’s ₹999 plan speed drops to 64 Kbps after the daily limit.

Total data

You get one pool for the whole validity. Jio’s ₹200 pack and Vi’s ₹200 pack both give 30 GB over 28 days. That is about 1.07 GB a day on average, but you can use it however you like, which helps if you watch a lot on weekends and little on weekdays.

How to choose

  • Steady daily use: daily data is simple and predictable.
  • Uneven use: a total pool wastes less.
  • Heavy use: add up your real monthly use first. 1.5 GB a day over 28 days is about 42 GB.

Remember that the ₹200 packs are data-led and the ₹299 plan includes calling, so they are not like-for-like on price.
