Are OTT-Bundled Recharge Plans Worth It? A Practical Check

Guides Published November 1, 2026Updated November 1, 20261 min read

Many plans now add entertainment apps on top of calling and data. They can be great value, but only if you actually use them.

A real comparison

In mid-2026 Jio and Vi both offered a ₹200 pack with 30 GB for 28 days. Vi’s listed 20 OTT platforms through its Movies & TV app and more than 200 live TV channels in 16 languages, usable on up to four devices. Jio’s listed 15 OTT platforms including YouTube Premium and Prime Video Mobile Edition, plus more than 1,000 live TV channels on JioTV, and its pack is data-only.

Three questions to ask

  1. Which of the listed apps do you already use every month?
  2. Would you otherwise pay for any of them separately?
  3. Does the plan still cover your calling needs?

Watch the fine print

Bundled access is often for a limited period or limited to the mobile version of an app. For example, Jio’s ₹999 plan includes JioHotstar Mobile for three months, not for the whole 98 days.

If you will not open the apps, choose a simpler plan and save the difference.
